Wexford Harbour Boat and Tennis Club promotes sailing and boating by giving training courses in the Clubhouse so that members and visitors alike can safely take part in and enjoy on-the-water sports. Most of the courses are approved by the parent body of sailing, the Irish Sailing Association. The ISA's Training Schemes allow one to learn and develop ones skills from absolute beginner to expert in Small Boat Sailing both at Junior and at Adult level. The Junior courses are usually run in July and vary in length from 1-3 weeks. The various modules under the Small Boat Sailing Scheme (SBSS) are fully outlined on the Irish Sailing Association web site www.sailing.ie/training or you can contact the clubs Junior Organisor at jo@whbtc.ie .

The Club is an ISA Recognised Teaching Establishment in Powerboat Training. The initial course leads to a National Powerboat Certificate after which  the successful participant will be capable of helming without supervision in good conditions and familiar waters. The more advanced course is the  ISA Safety Boat Certificate after which, the successful candidate will have a wide range of boat handling techniques and experience in the provision of safety cover for sailing events..

Each year, the Club organises the ISA Yachtmaster Shore Based Course. You can also avail of other training courses such as Radio courses and St John Ambulance First Aid courses. These additional courses may be run either stand-alone or as requirements of the Small Boat Sailing or Yachtmaster courses.

See the calendar below for details of courses run at WHBTC.
